Rosana 2-0 Uruguay

Rosana 2-0 Uruguay
A Court of Appeals of Uruguay confirmed there was no alleged plagiarism by Spanish author and singer Rosana in a case against two local artists, ruling that confirms a 2013 decision and ends all judiciary proceedings on the case.

Uruguayan authors Roberto Da Silva and Alberto Triunfo sued Rosana on 2006, stating that their 1980 song "Uruguay te queremos ver campeón" (Uruguay we want to see you champion) was plagiarized by her 2005 song "Soñaré" (I´ll dream).

An August 2013 decision ruled the song melody was already used by previous artists before 1980, therefore it wasn´t plausible of plagiarizing as its belongs to the public domain and isn´t an original creation.

According to her lawyer Rosana was “smooth and happy” after the news, although she was also “ready to litigate until the end” because she was sure about her ethics and behavior and felt upset and deceived by the complaint.
