Nicaragua launched its first National Logo Design Contest, calling all Nicaraguan creators to submit designs in an effort to promote the country’s intellectual property system. The contest is organized by the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (Unan-Managua) and the Ministry of Economy under the slogan "Think, create and design".
The designs must represent products and/or services offered by small and medium-sized enterprises.
“We want to foster creativity and innovation and highlight the importance of IP during the entire process: design, presentation, registration, protection, promotion and commercialization of a product through its brand, through its logo,” said Harry Peralta, Nicaragua’s Director of the Intellectual Property Registry.
Peralta also recommended that small and medium-size companies understand the importance of working together with trade associations and organizations to support efforts to protect IP and stop counterfeiting.
