Supreme Decree authorizes National IP Office to exonerate Administrative Fees
President of Peru, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, approved a Supreme Decree that exempts payment fees for registering trademarks in certain geographical areas of the country, in order to avoid “delays” on productive projects by interested parties living on such areas.

The measure consists of an exemption of fees charged by the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) in the procedures for registration of trademarks of products and services, collective trademarks and certification trademarks, among others, only in those geographical areas of Peru where the government has declared the state of emergency because of natural disasters.

The decree also approved a temporary system created to simplify other procedures for the registration of trademarks.
