Sweden Opens Trade Office in Peru

Sweden has inaugurated a new trade office in Lima under the banner of Business Sweden, aimed at attracting Swedish investors and strengthening economic and technological ties with Peru. The move reflects a broader strategy to deepen bilateral trade and investment by leveraging Peru’s natural resources alongside Swedish innovation and technology. The office is expected to facilitate further Swedish investment in sectors like mining, infrastructure, health, technology and sustainable development.

Business Sweden is the Swedish Trade & Invest Council, jointly owned by the Swedish state and the private business sector. Its core mission is to help Swedish companies expand their global sales, and to support international companies seeking to invest in — or do business with — Sweden. With more than 40 offices worldwide and a workforce of roughly 550 employees, Business Sweden provides strategic advice, market insights, and hands-on support to companies ranging from start-ups and SMEs to large multinationals.

Through this new office in Peru, Business Sweden aims to bring to bear its extensive global expertise and network to foster trade and investment flows between Sweden and Peru. The office will operate within Business Sweden’s broader mandate: facilitating foreign investments in Sweden and promoting Swedish companies abroad, helping them navigate regulatory environments, comply with local standards, and accelerate their time to market.

As part of its commitment to sustainable and inclusive growth, Business Sweden maintains a focus on responsible business practices — covering human rights, anti-corruption, environmental stewardship, labor conditions, and social impact. This aligns with Sweden’s reputation as a global hub for innovation, sustainability, and digital growth, values that the new trade office in Peru is likely to uphold.

In effect, by combining the new Peruvian trade office with Business Sweden’s organizational capacity and international network, Sweden is strengthening its global economic footprint and opening new opportunities for cooperation, investment, and technology transfer between Swedish and Peruvian actors.
