Tacna producers look Appellation of Origin for oregano
By Francisco Espinosa Reboa

The southernmost region of Peru, Tacna produces maize, potatoes, wheat, cotton, alfalfa, grapevine and its nationally known oregano.
For an Appellation of Origin to be granted, it should be demonstrated by law that the oregano produced in Tacna has special characteristics only obtained through the geography of that region.
Indecopi has already helped other Regional Governments and producers on the granting of several Appellations of Origin: Lambayeque Pumpkin, Villa Rica Coffee, Junín-Pasco Maca, Lima Bean of Ica, Giant White Maze of Cusco, Machu Picchu- Huadquiña Coffee, Pisco, Ceramics of Chulucanas and Amazonas Cocoa.
