Tax exoneration extension for foreign tourists
The tax benefits for non-resident tourists in Uruguay, which expired on April 21, were extended until October 31.

The most important one is the total exemption of the value added tax (VAT) for payments made by natural persons not resident in the country with credit or debit cards issued abroad.

The benefit includes gastronomic services, catering services for parties and events, and leasing of vehicles without drivers.

"Tourism means 100,000 jobs for Uruguay. It has an impact on our gross domestic product of more than 7% and it forms a cultural and educational relationship between people and their countries. All these objectives are the concerns for designing such public policies", said Liliam Kechichian, minister of Tourism.
