Tax transparency in Uruguay
By Pittaluga Abogados

This multilateral body formed by 126 countries adopted the Phase 2 Technical Report on Uruguay by unanimous vote.
This decision by the Global Forum to approve the Uruguayan report reflects the government’s commitment to transparency and tax cooperation, as well as the efforts of state bodies and the collaboration of various organizations of Uruguayan society toward the proper and efficient implementation of the regulatory changes introduced.
The Phase 2 review process began in 2014 and involved intense work over the course of more than seven months. As a result of this work, the Global Forum on Transparency and Information Exchange for Tax Purposes adopted the technical report for our country with a “Largely Compliant” rating.
This rating, which puts Uruguay at the same level as countries such as Brazil, Chile, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States, means that the international community recognizes once again this country’s will to cooperate in transparency matters.
