Tentacles of electronic commerce in Paraguay

The tentacles of electronic commerce in Paraguay have reached 300 stores that, at this moment, are selling through the Internet, whilst the Directorate of Digital Signature and Electronic Commerce of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is prioritizing transaction security; this dependence works with the commercial websites to offer quality services to costumers.

There was no need of much explanation, just the essencials, forces of nature did their job. It was impossible to escape from the commercial activity generated by ICTs. Paraguayan businessmen and traders found in the Internet a platform to offer their products in a massive, visible and economic way.

The tentacles of electronic commerce in Paraguay have reached 300 stores that, at this moment, are selling through the Internet, whilst the Directorate of Digital Signature and Electronic Commerce of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is prioritizing transaction security; this dependence works with the commercial websites to offer quality services to costumers.

At the time of purchase, a customer should consider the level of security of the website, as well as digital certificates, that is, the security filter confirming the authenticity of the page and prevents websites spoofing.

The Directorate of Digital Signature and Electronic Commerce is responsible for handling requests for those companies wishing to ensure security to virtual transactions.

Currently there are two companies that are struggling to deliver first signature and digital certificates in the country, which will increase the commercial movement of this business.

The result of the confirmation of the first and second companies competing for qualitiy certification, will be announced in August.
Within its competences, the Directorate of Digital Signature and Electronic Commerce, proposed to the National Computing Centre of the National University of Asunción, when Internet domains are delegated in Paraguay, the enabled websites should include information about the commercial activity to be deployed in the website; this imply a major change that will benefit the security of online transactions.
