The Pacific Alliance allows huge increase of Chinese tourism into Peru
With the aim of increasing tourism with Asia and between the countries that are part of the bloc, from July 11 to 13 the Pacific Alliance held in Armenia, Colombia, its 5th Tourism Alliance, with assistance of more than 240 entrepreneurs from Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and third markets such as China and the United States.

Marisol Acosta, director of Tourism of PromPerú, the State agency responsible for the promotion of Peru, highlighted the “fundamental importance” of the Pacific Alliance in the increase of foreign tourists throughout the bloc since 2014, when the 1st Tourism Alliance was held.

In that period, the arrival of Mexican visitors to Peru increased by 40 per cent, Colombians 32 per cent and Chileans 22 per cent. But the biggest push came from Asia. “We had a 89 per cent growth of Chinese visitors to Peru, a huge number which reflects the work of our bloc, who has head its tourism promotion specially into that region”, Acosta said.

The Pacific Alliance is a Latin American trade bloc established in 2012 by Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, which all border the Pacific Ocean.
