Trademark users can make payments online
The Ministry of Economy of Guatemala and the Rural Development Bank (Banrural) signed an agreement that will allow all users of the intellectual property system to make their payments online. “It has the necessary security measures to guarantee the reliability of the transactions and maintain the necessary legal certainty," said Acisclo Valladares Urruela, Minister of Economy.

The agreement is part of a larger strategy of digitalization of Guatemala’s Intellectual Property Office (RPI), which depends of the Ministry of Economy and since 2015 is adopting new technologies to promote the use of intellectual property as a tool for economic and social development, in accordance with the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO).

“Users will be able to make their payments through their own devices in a transparent, effective and immediate way, which will avoid the long queues that are currently taking place in the Office”, said Sylvia Ruiz, director of the RPI.
