United Nations Development Cooperation Framework

The Honduras Government and the United Nations System signed a new United Nations Development Cooperation Framework for the period 2022 -2026. This Framework determines the collective contribution of the UN in its accompaniment to the country's commitment towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda for 5 years, with a focus on human rights and gender equality, environmental sustainability, food security, and peace.

The Cooperation Framework is the most important instrument for planning and implementing United Nations development activities at the country level. This is in line with the Member States' call for a UN development reform to boost coordination to support countries to achieve the 2030 Agenda.

The development of the Cooperation Framework was a joint effort of the entire United Nations System in Honduras, prepared with the contributions of more than 500 people.Based on the main challenges identified in the consultations with these groups, the document defines three strategic priorities, and a transversal one, within which it frames the work of the UN in the country for the next five years.

The priority focuses on strengthening the rule of law, public administration, and inclusive citizen participation. The second is technological transformation, innovation, inclusive economy, decent work, and strengthening the country's resilience. The third priority contributes to guaranteeing the full exercise of human rights for all in an environment free of violence. Finally, the cross-cutting priority seeks to rebuild a better country model at a social, economic, and environmental level.
