Update on COVID-19 situation in Peru

As we previously informed you due to the increasing number of people infected by COVID-19, the Peruvian Government established March 15, 2020, a decree instituting a state of national emergency and the mandatory quarantine of all citizens for a period of fifteen (15) calendar days. Having passed that period the government decided to prolong such state until April 12, 2020, inclusively. Around that date it will be decided if the measure would be prolonged again.

All government offices, including the Trademarks Office and the Patents Office of INDECOPI, as well as the Judicial Courts are paralyzed and closed by said measures. The legal terms or deadlines are expressly suspended by law during the days established by the measure and INDECOPI has expressly suspended all terms until May 6, 2020.

We are working to give continuity to our services, and in the cases that merit making the presentation virtually depending on the availability of the systems of the corresponding government entities. Other particular cases will be taken care of once the legal quarantine period has ended.
