Within the framework of its Smart Health Travel project, Carrasco International Airport had strict health security measures and protocols with the advice of a multidisciplinary team of experts. The airport followed the guidelines of international organizations such as IATA, ICAO and WHO, and in permanent coordination with the Ministry of Public Health, both for the definition of the most effective measures and protocols and for their correct application.
Following a review under the recommendation on the gradual lifting of the temporary restrictions on non-essential travel into the European Union, the Council of the EU updated the list of countries for which travel restrictions should be lifted. As stipulated in the Council recommendation, this list will continue to be reviewed regularly and, as the case may be, updated.
Based on the criteria and conditions set out in the recommendation, as from 8 August member states should gradually lift the travel restrictions at the external borders for residents of Uruguay.
