Uruguay competitiveness according to WEF
The Global Competitiveness Report 2018-2019 prepared by the World Economic Forum (WEF), ranks Uruguay 53rd among 140 countries in the world and 3rd in Latin America.

The WEF rates countries from 1 to 100 points in 12 different pillars, without comparing them with each other, grouped into four sectors: (a) Enabling Environment (which includes the Institutions, Infrastructure, ICT Adoption, and Macroeconomic Stability pillars); (b) Human Capital (with the Health and Skills pillars); (c) Markets (Product Market, Labor Market, Financial System, and Market Size pillars); and (d) Innovation Ecosystem (Business Dynamism and Innovation Capability pillars).

Uruguay ranks best in the Enabling Environment sector, scoring highest in the ICT Adoption pillar, coming in at number 12 worldwide; and it scores well in optic fiber network and mobile broadband, where it ranks 8th worldwide.

With respect to Macroeconomic Stability, Uruguay obtained one of the highest scores (84 points), reaching 61st place worldwide. As for the Human Capital sector, Uruguay’s best score is in the health pillar (87 points), ranking 43rd in the world.
