Uruguay earns fifth Investment Grade rating
By Pittaluga Abogados
For the first time in its history, Uruguay obtained an “investment grade” rating from five major credit rating agencies, due to its “solid macroeconomic policies, its compliance with obligations, and sustainable long-term financial, fiscal, social, and production conditions, thus guaranteeing low risk exposure for investing, operating, producing, and working in Uruguay".
The Japanese agency Rating and Investment Information joined Moody’s, Fitch, Standard & Poor’s, and DBRS in awarding Uruguay an investment grade. This upgrades Uruguay’s foreign currency and long-term credit rating from BB+ to BBB-, the best grade ever achieved by the country.
