Uruguayan exports of goods increased in 2019
Uruguayan exports of goods in 2019, including those made from free-trades zones, totaled USD 9,146 million in 2019, an increase of 0.7 percent from 2018, according to Uruguay XXI annual report.

Soy and beef boosted the sales, which had China, the European Union and Brazil as the main destinations. “In a year marked by commercial tensions between the main markets, and a relative slowdown in the world economy, the performance of the export sector in Uruguay had a similar pace to that of the region”, states Uruguay XXI,  the agency responsible for the promotion of exports, investments and country image.

China once again positioned itself as Uruguay's main trading partner in 2019, with 31 percent of exports registered during the year. That volume represented a total of USD 2.872 million in sales, a significant growth compared to 2018. The following destinations were European Union (17 percent), Brazil (13 percent), United States (7 percent), Argentina (4 percent) and Mexico (3 percent).
