U$S 3.5 billion investments in port projects
Located in the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica, Puerto Limón contains two port terminals, Limón and Moín, which permit the shipment of Costa Rican exports as well as the anchoring of cruise ships. The city, commonly known as Limón, is now poised for an economic turnaround with several projects that could change the economic and commercial landscape of the Caribbean coast, a region sometimes overlooked.

With the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE) working heavily the past years to attract foreign companies to analyze new opportunities, the government is now advancing with the processes to tender market, technical feasibility, financial, and socio-economic studies for four port projects totaling approximately U$S 3.5 billion: an industrial park, a marine and cruise terminal and a hydrobiological pier.

“This is a group of companies with very high-level profiles that will now be required to move on to a second stage consisting of the presentation of the technical and economic offer to carry out the studies,” said Andrea Centeno, president of Japdeva -Costa Rica’s port authority- in a press statement.
