US$2 Million to Empower Early-Stage Digital Ventures in Honduras

IDB Lab, the innovation arm of the Inter-American Development Bank Group, has formalized an agreement that will provide financing worth US$2 million to extend support to over 100 digital ventures at the early-stage juncture, encompassing both Spin-offs (ventures originating in academic settings) and Startups (ventures initiated with advanced expertise or a well-defined subject profile).

The agreement overarching objective is to facilitate job placement and cultivate enterprises with substantial technological value, all while emphasizing the development of digital competencies and access to financing, with a keen focus on gender equity. The initiative primarily targets Honduran youth aged 18 to 30, hailing from middle to low-income households, who are enrolled as regular university students in the country.

The IDB Lab is pioneer in promoting entrepreneurship in STEM areas (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) in Latin America and the Caribbean.
