USPTO Launches Modernized Assignment Search Application

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is set to streamline the process of searching for patent and trademark assignment records with the launch of a new, unified Assignment Search application. This initiative replaces two older platforms—Patent Assignment Search and Assignments on the Web—with a single, more reliable and secure web-based tool.
The new Assignment Search application will go live on September 27, 2025, at which point the two legacy systems will no longer be available. Designed to enhance usability, the platform provides users with detailed assignment information through a modernized interface. Basic searches are supported, and users can refine results with multiple filtering options available in the tool’s advanced search function.
To further improve the customer experience, all prior assignment services will now be centrally accessible through the USPTO’s Assignment Center. On launch day, the new Assignment Search will be available within this centralized hub, making it easier for users to access comprehensive assignment information in one location.
