Venezuela aims to transform IP system to achieve international standards

The National Intellectual Property Office of Venezuela (SAPI) is looking to advance in the transformation of its attention services with the aim of providing more efficient assistance to all users of the IP system.The general director of the institution, Ricardo Javier Sánchez, assured that SAPI is working on a software for renewing its registration system to meet international standards set up by the World Intellectual Property Organization (OMPI) in order to provide a faster, more timely and quality response to businesses and creators.
As a result of the pandemic generated by the COVID-19, the institution has already implemented some virtual processes for users through mail, WhatsApp, Twitter and Instagram. "We are moving quickly to optimize online consulting processes, through a sofisticated security system and human resources capable of responding to all requests for registrations regarding trademarks, copyrights and Patents,” said Sánchez.
