According to a Reuters report, the full reopening of the Venezuela-Colombia border is underway, depending on legal conditions and the overall re-establishment of bilateral ties, Colombia's commerce minister said on Thursday."The border will open soon, but at the time when we have that coordination," Colombian Commerce Minister German Umana said.
According to AP, optimism is starting to creep into the border area, now that leftist Gustavo Petro has been sworn in as Colombia’s president, promising to normalize relations with Nicolás Maduro.
Colombia forecasts 2022 trade with Venezuela could hit USD 1.2 billion.
