"The fundamental objective is to promote intellectual property, put all our interest and attention in that matter, in order to be at the forefront of development and implement new strategies that help or contribute to the leverage of this system in Venezuela’s economy", said Alberto Rey, delegate of Venezuela at the WIPO and General Director Venezuela’s Intellectual Property Service (SAPI, for its Spanish acronym).
At the opening speech of the event, WIPO Director General Francis Gurry reported excellent results in the organization’s global intellectual property services and finances while noting that record demand for IP rights, driven by rapid technological changes, has created increased challenges for the administration of IP in the global economy.
The WIPO is the global forum for intellectual property policy, services, information and cooperation. A specialized agency of the United Nations, WIPO assists its 192 member states in developing a balanced international IP legal framework to meet society's evolving needs. It provides business services for obtaining intellectual property rights in multiple countries and resolving disputes.
