Venezuela’s Intellectual Property Office (SAPI) announced an ambitious expansion strategy to bring IP protection to all sectors of the country’s economy, according to its General Director Ricardo Javier Sánchez.“The goal is for all Venezuelans creators and all small and medium-sized companies to be able to register their trademarks, patents and copyrights in an easy way,” Sánchez stated, describing the plan as a “massification process” to start next year.
The proposal includes initiatives such as “SAPI Goes to the Street” and “SAPI Goes to the School”, aimed at promoting IP rights in commerces and business and to explain IP rights benefits to students.
"In an increasingly interconnected world, inventors, businessmen, producers and artists need to protect their work”, Sánchez highlighted.
