With 250 brands, Honduras tobacco industry expands worldwide

Honduras has 250 tobacco brands with which it annually produces more than 100 million cigars that are exported to Asia, the United States and Europe, according to a report by La Prensa that quotes numbers from the Honduran Association of Tobacco Producers and Manufacturers of Cigars (Aprotabacoh, for its Spanish acronym).

The tobacco industry employs 35,000 people and generates around USD 10 million per year through well-known cigar brands such as The Hustler Series Dog Walker, Casino Gold HRS Jack, Hoyo de Monterrey Governor, The Big Payback Chavala, Alec Bradley Black Market Punk, Jungle, 5 Vegas, Private 7-20-4, Fire, Rocky Patel, Vintaje, Decade and Catracho.

"The properties of the soil, a perfect temperate climate, an abundance of trained human resources and decades of experience in sowing the product are the factors that have allowed Honduras to become one of the leaders of premium cigars in the world," said to the newspaper Germán Pérez, ex minister of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Livestock.
